Cadalso de los Vidrios is a village in the Gredos mountains to the west of Madrid, a region that has received a lot of attention in the last 10 years for the beautiful wines from its high altitude vineyards. The Agricola de Cadalso is a co-operative of growers in the area around the town founded in 1956, working together to preserve their local winegrowing heritage. Due to the challenging nature of farming in this mountainous region and the demand for land for property development 80% of vineyards in the area had been lost by 2015. In stepped winemakers Dani Landi and Fernando Garcia, the founders of the Comando G winery which has helped raise the profile of the region. With them helping to improve the winemaking the growers are able to make a better living from the wines, preventing the remaining vineyards being lost to development.
The Garnacha is typical Gredos in style, pale and ethereal, with strawberry, floral and herbal aromas. Extremely drinkable but with considerable depth of flavour coming from the up to 80 year old vines providing the fruit.
